sero-epidemiological study on bovine leukosis in holstein and sarabi breeds in east azarbaijan province

the objective of this study was to explore the status of bovine leukemia virus infection and to determine the related risk factors in east azarbaijan province. in this regard blood samples were taken from 624 head of cattle and in meanwhile the specifications of each animal were recorded. the presence of antibodies to the virus was evaluated by serological methods. the results showed that the overall frequency of the disease in the province is 11%. from different type of risk factors; herd size, herd system and age are significantly associated to the frequency of the disease. there is no significant relationship between the breeds (sarabi & holstein) and the frequency of the disease.
